Francois Nars is the genius behind NARS cosmetics, a line of beauty products that include legendary blushes Orgasm and Deep Throat. Born in the South of France Nars always had a love of beauty and often found himself sketching model faces out of French
Vogue magazine. Eventually he enrolled at the Carita Makeup School in Paris. Extraordinarily talented, his work caught the eye of Polly Mellen then editor of
Vogue, who encouraged him to move to New York City. Once he made the move in 1984, Nars was working on various editorial publications such as
Vogue,
Harper’s Bazaar, and
Elle. In 1994 he created a line of 12 lipsticks when he became frustrated in the cosmetics lines that were on the market. His lipstick collection did so well it prompted him to create a full line which then led to the creation of Orgasm Blush, The Multiple, and Body Glow, all products that sell out to this day. Now the NARS brand is a complete color and skincare line that is known for its sleek packaging and intense pigment.
