When did you fall in love with makeup?
When I was 10 my father, also a makeup artist, brought me to the set of Pretty Baby and I got to watch him make up Brooke Shields.
What was your favorite decade as far as makeup is concerned? Why?
I love the look of the ’60s because they were really thinking outside the box. Why? Two words—Peggy Moffit. She was the ’60s model who broke all the conventional makeup barriers.
Which celebrities have you worked with in the past, and do you work with anyone regularly?
Mary Steenburgen, Brooke Shields, Laura San Giacomo. I’ve worked with Brooke a few times in the last couple
of years.
When brainstorming with a client for an awards show, what's the most
requested look?
The most requested look is beautiful, luminous skin. They want to have glowing skin without looking made up.
What are your top five beauty tips?
- Hydrate your skin, drink tons of water, and wear an SPF sunblock all year round, even when it’s overcast.
- If you have small eyes, don’t line them above and below. Just line the eyelid near the lash line.
- Make either the lips, eyes, or cheeks your focal point, but never all three.
- Let your natural skin shine through. Instead of covering your entire face with foundation, use it only in spots to even out your skin tone.
- Fall madly in love. I’m madly in love with my wife, and my skin has never looked better!
What's the one thing women can do to look younger?
Don’t use heavy powders to set your makeup. Too much powder will emphasize any fine lines you may have on your face and will mask your skin’s natural glow.
How can someone look great in an instant? Or what product or action will make you look fabulous instantly?
A light application of undereye concealer will make the eyes look fresh and rested. Enough said.
